So lately I've been noticing a few prominent trends in lolita.
First: Kaneo-Kei influence. I wrote a little more extensively about this on my blog back in December. It seems like it's something that is getting influenced by multiple things, like trends in the Chinese lolita community, Misako's collaborations with brands like Pink House, and the fashion aesthetic aspect of the cottagecore movement. It also doesn't seem to be really be slowing down, with Misako doing more collaborations. I'll be the first to admit I don't watch Pink House releases because I don't want to tempt myself into buying new releases with how affordable vintage stuff is in comparison... but it's May 11th and the whole Misako collab released April 22nd is way sold out.

While most of the series looks unmistakenly like typical pink house, this particular button front OP and headdress seems to dance over towards lolita a little with it's super sweet print and colors, and it's full skirt shape. Obviously, it's still pink house, but, could someone try to coord it as old school-ish lolita? yes? maybe? If they knew what they were doing? It's almost like... the AP-does-this-other-style thing, only in reverse?
And the PH influence in lolita seems to be going pretty strong too with AP's Flower Garden Tea Time which featured a front button cotton OP with heirloom details like pintucks...

And innocent world's only new print they announced recently is an all over strawberry with a long front button cut that has tie up bustle ribbons

I feel like some of this also bleeds into the old school trend that is going pretty strong right now? Baby and IW have been putting out some older pieces as re-releases or old school styled pieces lately that are pretty nice, and Meta has as well... but AP on the other hand seems to be cashing in on the 2010s OTT sweet renaissance trend with re-releases galore (and I am not complaining). We are getting a MTO French Cafe right now, which is really cute, and there have been a bunch of others.
The also recently did the Strawberry Bread Bakery series which is very 2010 era

but was ultimately rather a flop. ETC has a very similar print out at the same time called ginham bakery. ETCs is on reserve right now, so it will be interesting to see how well that sells comparatively. I think it's interesting that the AP JSK is:
Bust: About 89~95cm
Waist: About63〜79cm

compared to the ETC JSK which is:
bust: 83 ~108 cm
waist:71 ~ 99 cm
I have to wonder if the larger size range on the ETC piece will make it more popular overseas, or it it's not going to make as much of a splash because ETC has lower brand status compared to AP in the international market?
Another trend which has been big lately seems to be lemons, with AP, Meta and lots of indie brands putting out lemon themed prints (and there are several lemon themed bags on the market). I've also been seeing a lot of lemons in normie home decor, so I'm wondering if this is just a greater trend in general right now? It's been going on for several years now though, so I'm wondering how much time it has left?
And lastly, 'idol lolita' costumes seem to be pretty big with Chinese indie brands lately? Though not as big in english speaking lolita communities? I feel like 'tiktok' style dance culture has kind of influenced this a little, but I'm not sure?
